This morning, after breakfast, we will board the coach and make the short journey to Enniskillen. Visit Enniskillen Castle, the Buttermarket Craft & Design Centre, the Cenotaph, Court House or Town Hall – or simply enjoy a delicious lunch or sample some of the local shopping. In the afternoon we will board the coach and make our way to Florencecourt, one of the most charming and beautiful Georgian mansions in Northern Ireland and former home of the Earls of Enniskillen. Here you will have a fascinating upstairs downstairs tour where the past is brought back to life as you discover the stories of the Cole family, their staff and the working estate. We will return to the hotel with time to relax before dinner. (D,B&B)
Wednesday 7 September 2022
This morning after breakfast we will start out on a leisurely drive along the shores of Lough Erne to Belleek Pottery & Museum. Here you will have a tour of the factory and see how this unique and beautiful pottery is crafted. The highly skilled staff will guide you through every step of their process. Several generations of locals have learned a trade here, keeping heritage alive and creating Belleek’s distinctive and often intricate Parian china. Today, around 100,000 pieces are produced every year and shipped off around the world. As you experience each stage of production, you will be invited to touch the clay, feeling it evolve from liquid form to cold putty and eggshell brittle within 24 hours. You will come away from the tour totally amazed by the craftmanship involved. After your tour you can have lunch in the café, the mezzanine of which overlooks the River Erne, as it flows to meet the Atlantic Ocean and where all the food is served on Belleek tableware.
After departing Belleek, we will return to the hotel travelling around the other side of the Lough. When you arrive back at the hotel you may have some free time to enjoy the leisure facilities before dinner. (D,B&B)
Thursday 8 September 2022
After breakfast today we will board the coach and make our way back to Enniskillen where we will board a cruiser which will take us on a guided tour on Lough Erne. A highlight of the trip is the stop on Devenish Island, which contains one of the finest monastic sites in Ireland. After the cruise you will have some free time in Enniskillen to have lunch before we board the coach and make a short journey to visit Castle Coole. This majestic 18th century home of the Earls of Belmore, designed by James Wyatt, was created to impress. You will have a tour where you will encounter lavishly decorated rooms in early 19th century style including a venture up the beautiful 'imperial' staircase, where you can see the ornate State Bedroom, which was decorated for a visit of King George IV. After the tour we will return to the hotel in the late afternoon. (D,B&B)
Friday 9 September 2022
After a leisurely breakfast we will check out of the hotel and board the coach for the journey back home. We will make our way to the Cavan County Museum. Here you will discover the unique heritage and culture of County Cavan with galleries featuring fascinating artefacts dating from the Stone Age right up to the 20th century. The museum is also home to the World War One Trench Experience and the largest outdoor replica trench open to the public in Ireland and the UK. We will depart the museum and make our way back to your original pick-up points with a stop for lunch en-route. After our visit here we will return you to your original pick-up points.
