Monday 1st June 2020
We will pick you up from our designated pick up point and travel to Belfast for the Ferry at 11.30hrs to Cairnryan arriving at 13.52hrs. We depart Cairnryan and travel to Perth with stops en-route and check into the hotel for our 4-night stay. (D, B&B)
Tuesday 2nd June 2020
We depart the hotel after breakfast and travel to the world-famous National Wallace Monument, built between 1861 and 1869 to commemorate Sir William Wallace who led the struggle for Scottish independence at the end of the 13th Century. There is a walk and steps to negotiate but the effort is worthwhile for the spectacular views over the city and to Stirling Castle. After the visit we continue to Stirling where you will have some free time for lunch and a walk around this lovely town. We continue to Stirling Castle for a tour. Here you will be transported into the rich world of Scotland’s royalty in the 1500s and how it might have looked as the childhood home of Mary Queen of Scots. After the visit we will return to the hotel in time for dinner. (D, B&B)
Wednesday 3rd June 2020
We depart the hotel today and travel to Edinburgh via the Forth Road Bridge. On arrival in Edinburgh you will be met by a local guide who will take you on a walking tour of the city which will include the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. After the walking tour you will have a visit of Edinburgh Castle. Edinburgh Castle is one of the oldest fortified places in Europe. With a long rich history as a royal residence, military garrison, prison and fortress, it is alive with many exciting tales. When you climb Castle Hill, you will walk in the footsteps of soldiers, kings and queens – and even the odd pirate or two. Though parts of it remain in military use, the castle is now a world-famous visitor attraction. It’s also an iconic part of the Old and New Towns of Edinburgh World Heritage Site. After the tour you will have some free time around Edinburgh for a bit of lunch and browse the shops. Return to the hotel in time for dinner. (D, B&B)
Thursday 4th June 2020
After breakfast we depart the hotel and travel to Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre for a visit. Here you will stand shoulder to shoulder with Robert the Bruce on the site of his greatest victory. The state-of-the-art 3D technology brings you face to face with the famous 1314 medieval battle. After the visit we will have some lunch and then travel to The Kelpies. Come and see the world's largest equine sculptures up close and go inside to marvel at the complexity and engineering which created these fantastic pieces of art. Join our 30-minute guided walking tour that takes you through the vision of artist Andy Scott and how history and industry impacted on his designing of these breath-taking sculptures. The pinnacle of the tour is that you get to experience a Kelpie from the inside, and see for yourself the breathtaking engineering and design of The Kelpies. After the visit we will return to the hotel. (D, B&B)
Friday 5th June 2020
After breakfast we check out of the hotel and travel to Cairnryan for your ferry with Stena Line at 15.30hrs back to Belfast arriving at 17.45hrs. On arrival you will be transferred back to your original pick up point.
