Itinerary:

Tuesday 6 August 2019
We will pick you up from our designated pick up point and drive up the M1 motorway to Belfast. Our first stop will be at Hillsborough Castle. This is a working royal palace functioning as the official residence of the Royal Family when they are in Northern Ireland. A tour of the house will guide you through the elegant State Rooms, including the majestic Throne Room and graceful State Drawing Room. There will be some time for lunch after your tour and then we continue on to Belfast where we will have a guided City tour taking in the bustling University Quarter to the notorious political murals of East & West Belfast which depict in their own unique way the turbulent events of the so called 'Troubles'. We also visit the Titanic Quarter, home to colossal cranes of Harland & Wolff and the final location of the recently returned SS Nomadic, tender to the ill-fated Titanic and only surviving vessel from the White Star Line. We make our way to our City Centre hotel and check in for the first of our 4 nights. (D, B&B)

Wednesday 7 August 2019
Today our tour takes us on a leisurely drive along the spectacular Antrim Coast road, through some of the beautiful Glens of Antrim, passing through Glenarm, Cushendall, Ballycastle and on to Bushmills where we will visit the famous Distillery (12.30 booking). Here you can watch whiskey making take place and enjoy a taster as the secrets of 400 years of distilling at the home of Irish whiskey are unlocked. After a tour of the distillery you will make your way a short distance along the coast to Northern Ireland’s most spectacular natural attraction often described as the eighth wonder of the world. After the Causeway we will travel around the coast road passing through Portstewart, Portrush and on to Coleraine where we will take the more direct route back to Belfast via motorway in time for dinner in the hotel. (B&B)

Thursday 8 August 2019
After breakfast this morning, we will make our way to the new Titanic Quarter with a visit to the Titanic Museum. The Centre is a state of the art attraction with some incredible effects so you can experience the Titanic leaving Belfast; see it being built and much more. After the visit the coach will bring you back to the City Centre where you will have the rest of the day free to spend at your leisure. You could visit the City Hall, the Ulster Museum or the Botanic Gardens or perhaps just enjoy a bit of retail therapy in the fabulous Victoria Square. Anchored by the House of Fraser department store, Victoria Square features four levels of luxury brands, high street stores, restaurants and the Odeon Cinema. Brands include Urban Outfitters, Mango, Pull & Bear, Hollister, Cruise, Reiss, LK Bennett and Ireland's only Apple Store. Topped by an iconic dome, discover panoramic views across the City, the River Lagan and even to the Mourne Mountains. Since you are free to have dinner at your leisure you may wish to visit some of the food outlets available - Nando's, Starbucks, Wagamama, Frankie and Benny's, Cosmo and The Ivory Restaurant. Or you could take a stroll through the Cathedral Quarter where there is a myriad of pubs and restaurants to choose from. Return to your City Centre hotel at your leisure. (B&B)

Friday 9 August 2019
After breakfast, we will visit the famous St George’s Market in the City. The market has a fusion of tempting speciality foods from around the world as well as handmade crafts, flowers, plants and local photography, pottery, glass and metal work. Enjoy the best food, tastes and smells brought by local producers including fish landed at Portavogie, pork from Cookstown, beef from Armagh, venison and pheasant in season, local organic vegetables. In the afternoon we will board the coach and make our way to Crumlin Road to visit Crumlin Road Gaol where you will be able to take a tour of the prison and hear the varied history of the Gaol that dates back to 1845. You will be returned to the hotel after this visit with the evening at your leisure. (B&B)

Saturday 10 August 2019
After breakfast, we will check out of our hotel and drive to the Ards Peninsula to visit the fabulous Mount Stewart House and Gardens. The famous gardens were planted in the 1920s by Edith, Lady Londonderry and are of international importance. After our visit, we will board the coach and make our way along the Ards Peninsula to Portaferry where we will board the ferry to travel across Strangford Lough and on to Downpatrick. After visiting St. Patrick’s grave at the Church of Ireland Cathedral, there will be some free time before we make our way south and back to your original pick-up points.
