Tuesday 2nd April 2019
After disembarking, this morning we set off for a full day visit to Keukenhof, the most beautiful spring park on earth! Covering some 79 acres (32 hectares), Keukenhof Tulip Gardens is one of the world’s largest flower gardens. Come springtime, the meandering, wooded gardens are visited by some 800,000 flower-lovers, who come to soak up the blaze of colour that envelops the park, its greenhouses, brooks and shady ponds and winding paths. It’s truly a memorable sight. At Keukenhof Tulip Gardens, nature’s talents are combined with artificial precision to create a wonder of landscaping, where millions of tulips, along with narcissi and daffodils, hyacinths, bluebells, and many others blossom perfectly in place and exactly on time. And if the temperatures have been wilting, don’t worry: fresh blooms are planted by helping hands for the duration of the season. Special exhibits are held in the pavilions around the site, and there are cafes and refreshment stands throughout. Keukenhof Tulip Gardens feature a variety of different gardens and garden styles. For example, the English landscape garden features winding paths and unexpected see-through points (designed by Zocher in 1830, the garden architect of the Vondelpark in Amsterdam, among others). The historical garden is an enclosed garden where you can see many old types of bulbs. The nature garden consists of a water garden where shrubs and perennials are combined with bulbous plants. The Japanese country garden is a non-traditional garden in a natural environment. We will enjoy a ‘Whisper Boat’ ride through the bulb fields, gliding silently through the stunning landscape. The ‘Whisper Boats’ are driven by electric engines, are environmentally friendly and are almost silent as they sail through the beautiful surrounding Dutch landscape. The boats that are used are perfectly suitable for sailing through the often shallow water. The boat trip lasts 50-75 minutes and guarantees you wonderful photographs. If you are taking a Whisper Boat Tour please arrive at the departure point 15 minutes before the agreed departure time. The departure point is located behind the windmill. There are also plenty of terraces and restaurants for you to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings. We continue to the hotel in the Amsterdam area and check in for your 2 night stay. (B&B)
Wednesday 3rd April 2019
We depart the hotel after breakfast and travel to the famous Gassan Diamond Factory. We will see a demonstration of diamond cutting and polishing then re-join the coach for a city sightseeing tour with a local guide. Amsterdam is the Netherlands’ capital, known for its artistic heritage, elaborate canal system and narrow houses with gabled facades, legacies of the city’s 17th-century Golden Age. Its Museum District houses the Van Gogh Museum, works by Rembrandt and Vermeer at the Rijksmuseum, and modern art at the Stedelijk. Cycling is key to the city’s character, and there are numerous bike paths. Return to the hotel (B&B)
Thursday 4th April 2019
Enjoy a leisurely morning for last minute sightseeing or shopping before we head into the Dutch countryside to the pretty harbourside village of Volendam, situated on the Ijsselmeer. With traditional wooden houses painted in white and green, small fishing boats bobbing on the water and a great assortment of restaurants and souvenir shops, Volendam is a favourite destination for day-trippers from the city and is a most charming village. Look out for women wearing traditional Volendam costumes with pointed bonnets. There will be time for lunch here before we return to Rotterdam for the overnight cruise ferry to Hull. (D, B&B)
Friday 5th April 2019
We will disembark at Hull this morning and return across the Pennines to Holyhead for the afternoon ferry back to Dublin. On arrival you will be transferred back to your original pick up point.

Please note terms and conditions apply.
