Friday 16 August 2024
We will pick you up from our designated pick-up point and travel towards Letterkenny with our first stop in Monaghan where you will have time to visit Monaghan County Museum if you wish or just have a stroll, a browse and some lunch before we continue on to Letterkenny where you will arrive at the hotel to check in with time to freshen up before dinner. Saturday 17 August 2024
Today, after breakfast, we will travel first towards Rathmullan where the famous Flight of the Earls took place from in 1607. We will take a route along the coastline of the western shore of Lough Swilly with its huge maritime history and take the scenic drive towards Knockalla, Ballymastoker Beach (once voted the second most beautiful beach in the world), Portsalon, with views of the Inishowen hills as a backdrop. We will visit Fanad Head Lighthouse, once voted one of the most beautiful lighthouses in the world. You will have a tour of the lighthouse and hear stories of lightkeepers in days gone by and if you wish, time permitting, climb to the top of the tower for the most spectacular views. We will continue with a scenic Atlantic drive from Fanad to the Rosguill Peninsula via the Harry Blaney Bridge. We will have a stop at Doe Castle which sits beautifully on a jutting rock, with the sea surrounding it on three sides. It's striking white tower is central to its legends of tragedy, romance, and ghosts. A guided tour here is optional. We will return to the hotel in time for dinner. (D,B&B)

This morning, after breakfast, we will depart the hotel and make our way to the beautiful Glenveagh National Park. The hauntingly beautiful Glenveagh Castle was built in the 1870s by the Adair family. Surrounded by the famous Glenveagh Gardens, its construction in a remote mountain setting was inspired by the Victorian idyll of a romantic highland retreat. You will have a guided tour of the Castle after which you will have plenty of time after to enjoy a stroll in the Walled Gardens – and experience not to be missed. You will also be able to have lunch in the tea rooms before we depart and make our way back to Letterkenny where you can have the rest of the afternoon free to explore the town or just relax and enjoy some of the leisure facilities on offer in the hotel before dinner. Monday 19 August 2024
Today, after breakfast, we will make our way to Donegal town where you can have some free time to explore. You might like to visit the Castle (entrance not included) and the famous Magee’s of Donegal, selling luxury menswear, womenswear and accessories. The store also has a Gift Department and Food Hall, The Weaver’s Loft Café, plus clothing and footwear concessions. You might like to have an early lunch here before we depart Donegal Town at approximately 13.00hrs and continue our tour of the South West visiting Killybegs, a natural harbour and the largest fishing port in Ireland. We will also visit Glencolumbkille including a visit to the Folk Village Museum. This thatched-roof replica of a rural village offers a glimpse into daily life as it was during past centuries. Designed, built and maintained by the local people, the Folk Village is one of Ireland's best living-history museums. We will continue on to Ardara (via the Glengesh Pass) and Fintown and back to Letterkenny. Return to the hotel for dinner. (D,B&B)
 
Tuesday 20 August 2024
After breakfast, we check out of the hotel and bid farewell to Donegal. We will make the short journey across the border to spend the morning in Derry City where you will have a guided walking tour followed by some free time to explore at your leisure and have some lunch before boarding the coach again and starting the journey home. We will have another comfort stop en-route in Cavan before continuing to Dublin where we will arrive at approximately 17.00hrs and then continue to drop you off at your original pick-up points.
