Tuesday 28 July 2026
This morning, after breakfast, we will be joined by a guide and will travel to Castle Howard, one of the grandest private houses in the country, made famous for its starring role in the TV series “Brideshead Revisited”. The 18th Century residence is set within 1,000 acres of breath-taking landscape, dotted with temples, lakes, statues and fountains. The Castle has been home to the Howard family for over 300 years. It is one of England’s finest houses and here you will experience the grandeur of the building and discover world renowned collections, featuring statuary, furniture and paintings. After departing Castle Howard, we will make our way to the historic City of York where the streets are full of historic buildings, traditional shops and cafés and a number of museums and art galleries. York Minster, the largest Gothic Cathedral north of the Alps, is a masterpiece in stained glass and stone and a highlight of any trip to York. On the coach journey between Castle Howard and York, your guide will hand out maps and do an "armchair tour" of the City, so when you arrive you will not need an extensive walking tour as you will be set off in the right direction by the guide so you will have the rest of the afternoon to explore at your leisure before returning to the hotel in time for dinner. (D,B&B)

Wednesday 29 July 2026
After breakfast this morning, we will again be joined by our guide who will travel with you for the day to the bustling fishing port of Whitby where the famous Abbey, the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, stands guard, high above the town. There will be a little time to explore the narrow streets and perhaps buy some Whitby jet – the “black amber of the north”. In the afternoon, we take the steam-hauled North Yorkshire Moors Railway, departing from Whitby for a trip through the spectacular National Park and “Heartbeat” country, to Pickering. The NYMR is one of the earliest and most historic lines in the North of England. Pickering Station is a must-see 1930’s themed station that will transport you back in time to the steam era. The coach will meet you in Pickering and we will return to Harrogate and the hotel in time to freshen up before dinner. (D,B&B)

Thursday 30 July 2026
After breakfast today, we will again be joined by our guide for a full day exploring the wonders of the Yorkshire Dales. We will depart the hotel and drive to Haworth where we will visit the Bronte Parsonage Museum which was the home of the Bronte family from 1820 to 1861. The Bronte Parsonage remains as the family would have known it - the father’s study, with its piano and view of the church, the dark and rather cramped kitchen, the little bedrooms and the dining room, where the Bronte sisters worked, long after their father had gone to bed. We will move on to Grassington, otherwise known as “Darrowby” in All Creatures Great and Small. You will have a little free time here before we board the coach in the early afternoon to make our way back to Harrogate so you can have some time at your leisure to explore this heritage town, perhaps visiting Betty’s Tearooms or the Valley Gardens. Return to the hotel to freshen up before dinner. (D,B&B)

Friday 31 July 2026
After breakfast, we will check out of the hotel and start the journey back to Holyhead with comfort stop en-route and board the ferry to Dublin from where you will be returned to your original pick-up points.

Please note terms and conditions apply.
