ITINERARY
FRIDAY 30TH JULY
After a local pick up we drive to Waterford, Ireland’s oldest city founded in 914AD by the Vikings. Our hotel is situated in the heart of the city, on the water’s edge, and after check in there is time to look around before dinner and music this evening. (Dinner, B&B)
SATURDAY 31ST JULY
After breakfast we enjoy a walking tour of Waterford City led by a local expert and historian. The tour will last one hour and will take in the old Viking city and Reginald’s Tower. Of course, there’s the option to visit famous Waterford Crystal too. Then it’s off to the busy seaside resort of Tramore with its amusements and three-mile sandy beach. We spend a relaxing afternoon
here then return to the hotel for dinner with music. (Dinner, B&B)
SUNDAY 1ST AUGUST
Today’s excursion is to the medieval city of Kilkenny. Our Driver/Guide will show you the sights and we include a visit to Kilkenny Castle, which stands dramatically on a strategic height commanding a crossing on the River Nore. The castle, which comprises various architectural styles, has been the principal Irish residence of the powerful Butler family for almost 600 years. We spend some free time in Kilkenny – perhaps have lunch in famous Kyteler’s Inn, the city’s oldest pub – then return to Waterford for dinner and to enjoy the music and craic in either the hotel or other nearby venues. MONDAY 2ND AUGUST
We check out of the hotel and return homewards to our original pick up points. |
