ITINERARY
SUNDAY 25TH APRIL
We pick you up from your local area then drive to Dublin for the ferry to Holyhead. We then cross the Pennines to Hull and board the overnight cruise ferry to Rotterdam with en-suite cabins, dinner and breakfast included. (Dinner, B&B)
MONDAY 26TH APRIL
After disembarking this morning we drive to lively Amsterdam, city of canals, bridges and bicycles, where our first stop is the famous Gassan Diamond Factory. We see a demonstration of diamond cutting and polishing then re-join the coach for a city sightseeing tour with a local guide. After checking in to our hotel there will be free time to explore Amsterdam and perhaps visit one of its marvellous museums before dinner. (Dinner, B&B)
TUESDAY 27TH APRIL
After breakfast we set off for a full day visit to Keukenhof, the most beautiful spring park on earth! This historic parkland of 32 hectares will be brimming with flowering tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and other spring bulbs in an overwhelming display of colour – a feast for the eyes and a wonderful spectacle to photograph. Keukenhof has, over 50 years, developed into a showcase for the flowering bulb and ornamental plant industry, displaying its floral art with a new style every year. We will enjoy a ‘Whisper Boat’ ride through the bulbfields, gliding silently through the stunning landscape and providing the best photo opportunities. There are also plenty of terraces and restaurants for you to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings. We return to the hotel for dinner. (Dinner, B&B)
WEDNESDAY 28TH APRIL
Enjoy a leisurely morning for last minute sightseeing or shopping then we head into the Dutch countryside to the pretty harbourside village of Volendam, situated on the IJsselmeer. With traditional wooden houses painted in white and green, small fishing boats bobbing on the water and a great assortment of restaurants and souvenir shops, Volendam is a favourite destination for day-trippers from the city and is a most charming village. Look out for women wearing traditional Volendam costumes with pointed bonnets. There will be time for lunch here before we make our way to De Simonehoeve for a demonstration of cheese and clog making. Finally we return to Rotterdam for the overnight cruise ferry to Hull with dinner and breakfast on board ship. (Dinner, B&B)
THURSDAY 29TH APRIL
We disembark at Hull this morning and return across the Pennines to Holyhead for the ferry to Dublin and transfers to original pick up points. |
