ITINERARY

THURSDAY 25TH NOVEMBER
Depart from your local pick up point then we drive to Dublin and catch the ferry to Holyhead. Continue across the north of England to Hull and board the overnight cruise ferry to Rotterdam. Relax and enjoy the crossing with en-suite cabins, dinner, breakfast and entertainment on board. (Dinner, B&B)

FRIDAY 26TH NOVEMBER
The ferry docks in Rotterdam early morning and we drive across the Netherlands and Germany to our destination, the port-city of Hamburg on the River Elbe. Hamburg is Germany’s second largest city and is said to be one of its most beautiful – 50% of its area is covered in parkland, gardens and water. It is also a mecca for shopaholics, whether bargain hunters or lovers of fine fashion. We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner this evening. (Dinner, B&B)

SATURDAY 27TH NOVEMBER
We make our way into the city centre and, after an orientation tour by coach to see the major landmarks, the time is yours to explore the Christmas Markets. The most charming is beside the Town Hall, the ‘Rathaus’, where one hundred merchants will set up their shops on Hamburg’s largest square. Quaint cottages designed by Bernhard Paul, roasted apples and hand-crafted items set this market aside from others. We will find hand-made Christmas decorations from the Erzgebirge region, woodcarvers from the Tyrol, gingerbread makers from Nuremberg, pottery from the Lausitz and bakers from Aachen producing their famous ‘printen’ cookies. Silversmiths and many other artisans invite us to marvel, taste and enjoy. ‘Nordic Lane’ is a tribute to Hamburg’s traditionally close ties to the countries of Scandinavia and the Baltic region, and of course Santa Claus will be there, riding above the roofs of the market cottages in his reindeer sleigh. Shop till you drop, then perhaps relax on a boat trip around the canals or the Alster Lake to see the city from the water. Return to the hotel for dinner. (Dinner, B&B)

SUNDAY 28TH NOVEMBER
We leave Hamburg this morning and retrace our route across northern Germany and the Netherlands to board our overnight cruise ferry from Rotterdam to Hull with cabins and meals on board. (Dinner, B&B)

MONDAY 29TH NOVEMBER
After disembarking in Hull we drive across the Pennines to Holyhead for the ferry to Dublin and onward transfers to original pick up points.
