CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW, HIDCOTE MANOR GARDEN & CHESTER

 

There is nothing to match the atmosphere and glory of the Chelsea Flower Show, the world’s greatest horticultural event. Our tour combines the Chelsea Flower Show with time in London and a visit to the fabulous Hidcote Manor Garden in the Cotswolds, along with an overnight in the lovely old city of Chester.

ITINERARY

THURSDAY 27TH MAY
Join our luxury coach at one of many pick up points throughout Ireland and then we board Irish Ferries’ Ulysses in Dublin for the crossing to Holyhead. A leisurely drive with comfort stops en route will bring us to our hotel in west London. (Dinner, B&B)

FRIDAY 28TH MAY
After breakfast we take a short drive into London for a full day to enjoy the spectacular, world-famous Chelsea Flower Show. The show is set in the grounds of the Royal Hospital and displays a huge array of plants, plus a multitude of gardening accessories and tools. Marvel at the amazing show gardens and delight in the sights and scents of the magnificent floral displays in the marquees, whilst the Great Pavilion showcases world-class nurseries, growers and plant specialists. Chelsea is the ultimate in flower shows! Return to the hotel in time for dinner. (Dinner, B&B)

SATURDAY 29TH MAY
This morning we enjoy a city sightseeing tour of London with a local Blue Badge guide. Our tour will pass Buckingham Palace and St Paul’s Cathedral before we enjoy a highlight visit to the Tower of London. The afternoon is at leisure to relax, to shop, or to enjoy some of London’s other famous attractions. (Dinner, B&B)

SUNDAY 30TH MAY
A leisurely day today as we head west to the delightful Cotswolds, an area of lovely scenery with quaint villages and houses of golden-coloured Cotswold stone. We visit one of England’s greatest gardens at Hidcote Manor in Gloucestershire, nestled in the Cotswold countryside with stunning panoramas across the Vale of Evesham. The garden is an Arts & Crafts masterpiece – a series of outdoor rooms, each with its own character, linked by vistas and furnished with topiary. Created in the early 20th century by self-taught gardener Major Lawrence Johnston, the garden is full of hedges, walls, water and paving with old roses and unusual plants and trees from around the world. After a relaxed visit we continue north to Chester for an overnight stay. (Dinner, B&B)

MONDAY 31ST MAY
Our Driver/Escort will take us on a tour of Chester this morning. We see the Roman Walls and amphitheatre then visit the nearby village of Eccleston, home to the Duke of Westminster.Return to Chester to see the unique Tudor ‘Rows’, two-tiered shopping galleries in the city centre, with time for a refreshment break before we head to Holyhead for the early afternoon ferry to Dublin. We will then transfer you back to your original pick up point.
