ITINERARY
TUESDAY 4TH MAY
Departure from your nearest pick up point then we drive to Dublin for the ferry to Holyhead and across northern England to Hull. Here we board the overnight cruise ferry to Zeebrugge in Belgium with en-suite cabins, dinner and breakfast on board. (Dinner, B&B)
WEDNESDAY 5TH MAY
We arrive in Zeebrugge this morning and make our way across Belgium, Luxembourg and the Alsace region of France to our destination, the pretty town of Oberharmersbach. We check in to our traditional, family-run hotel and have time to savour the local atmosphere before dinner this evening. (Dinner, B&B)
THURSDAY 6TH MAY
After breakfast we set off for a panoramic tour of the Black Forest. Our first stop is the attractive university city of Freiburg dominated by its Gothic Minster, the Schlossberg and the remains of three castles. We then continue along a most scenic route to the beautiful lakeside resort of Titisee where you may wish to enjoy a short lake cruise or a taste of Black Forest Gateau. We return via Triberg to see Germany’s highest waterfalls and to perhaps visit the Black Forest Museum. (Dinner, B&B)
FRIDAY 7TH MAY
This morning is at leisure to relax and enjoy our delightful surroundings. This afternoon we head north along the Black Forest Mountain Road to the charming and elegant spa resort of Baden Baden. This idyllic town is home to Germany’s oldest casino and has beautiful parks and gardens. The old town has many narrow streets, galleries, shops and restaurants. Perhaps take a walk along the famous Lichtentaler Allee or take to the waters at Europe’s hottest thermal springs. We return to the hotel for dinner. (Dinner, B&B)
SATURDAY 8TH MAY
We take a memorable excursion into Switzerland to view the spectacular Rhine Falls, Europe’s largest waterfall, near the attractive medieval town of Schaffhausen. We then continue to Lake Constance with a stop in the town of Constance itself. There is a magnificent cathedral and the narrow, twisting streets of the old town have changed little since the Middle Ages. We spend some time enjoying the Mediterranean atmosphere and the lakeside setting, then return to our hotel. (Dinner, B&B)
SUNDAY 9TH MAY
Check out of the hotel after breakfast, then we return to Zeebrugge for the overnight cruise ferry to Hull. Relax in ensuite cabins and enjoy dinner and breakfast on board. (Dinner, B&B)
MONDAY 10TH MAY
We travel back across the Pennines and North Wales to Holyhead then take the ferry to Dublin and transfer you to your original pick up points. |
