We will pick you up from our designated pick up point and drive up the M1 motorway towards Belfast. There will be a comfort stop en route before arrival in Hillsborough, Co Down where you will visit Hillsborough Castle. This beautiful late Georgian mansion is a working royal palace functioning as the official residence of the Royal Family when they are in Northern Ireland, and it has been the home of the Secretary of State since the 1970s. You will have a 45-minute tour of the house and you will have free time for lunch and a browse in Hillsborough village. We will depart Hillsborough at approximately 15.00hrs and continue the short distance into Belfast City Centre where a guide will board the coach and take you on a tour showing you all that the City has to offer from the bustling University to the notorious political murals of East & West Belfast which depict in their own unique way the turbulent events of the so called 'Troubles'. At the end of the tour you will be taken to your City Centre hotel and check in for the first of our 4 nights. After dinner in the hotel your evening will be at your leisure. (D, B&B)

Today we will travel to Bushmills via the Motorway to Coleraine and a visit to the famous Bushmills Distillery where you will have a guided tour. Here you can watch whiskey making take place and enjoy a taster as the secrets of 400 years of distilling at the home of Irish whiskey are unlocked. After a tour of the distillery you will make your way a short distance along the coast to Northern Ireland’s most spectacular natural attraction often described as the eighth wonder of the world, the Giants Causeway. After the Causeway visit, we begin a journey that is ranked one of the best scenic road trips in the world along the Antrim Coast road. You will pass by the ruins of Dunluce Castle and continue on through Ballycastle, Cushendun, Cushendall, Glenarm and Larne before returning to Belfast and the hotel. (D,B&B)

After breakfast this morning, we will make our way to one of Belfast’s most popular attractions, the infamous Victorian prison, Crumlin Road Gaol. Explore over 150 years of history with a guided tour. You can stand in the underground tunnel that connects the Gaol to the Crumlin Road Courthouse, sit in the governor's chair, see the condemned man’s cell. The Gaol has housed murderers, suffragettes and loyalist and republican prisoners. It has witnessed births, deaths and marriages and has been the home to executions, escapes, hunger-strikes and riots.
After the visit to the Gaol you will be returned the short journey to the City Centre and those who would like to visit the Titanic Belfast Museum will be dropped off there – this is an optional visit and not included in the price of the tour. Those who prefer may wish to spend time in the City Centre visiting one of the many attractions, the City Hall or you may wish to explore the Cathedral Quarter. Dinner will be at your leisure this evening in one of the many restaurants in the City Centre. (B&B)

After breakfast today we will travel to Seamus Heaney Homeplace, about an hour’s drive from Belfast. Seamus Heaney, Nobel Laureate, is undoubtedly Northern Ireland’s most literary legend. He was one of Ireland's best loved public figures and one of the world's greatest writers. Your day will start with a bespoke guided tour of his native South Derry, to find out more about the people, places and countryside that inspired him. You will see his birthplace at Mossbawn and retrace the footsteps of the young Seamus Heaney on his way to school in the 1940s. You will visit other places synonymous with Seamus Heaney, including the villages of Castledawson, Bellaghy and Toome. Along the way you will visit The Turf Man, a life-size representation of Heaney's most famous poem “Digging”. After the tour you will visit the Homeplace Visitor Centre which includes a stunning exhibition which interprets Seamus Heaney’s work. The entire space over two floors is filled with personal stories and artefacts, dozens of family photographs, video recordings from friends, neighbours and cultural figures, and the voice of the poet himself reading his own words. We will return to Belfast in the afternoon and you will have the remainder of the evening at your leisure. (B&B)
Saturday 27 June 2020
After breakfast, we will check out of our hotel and drive to the Ards Peninsula to visit the fabulous Mount Stewart House and Gardens for a self-guided tour. The famous gardens were planted in the 1920s by Edith, Lady Londonderry and are of international importance. Lady Londonderry’s passion for bold planting schemes, coupled with the mild climate of Strangford Lough, allows rare and tender plants from across the globe to thrive in this celebrated garden. After our visit, we will board the coach and make our way along the Ards Peninsula to board the small ferry across Strangford Lough onto Downpatrick. After visiting St. Patrick’s grave at the Church of Ireland Cathedral, there will be some free time before we make our way south and back to your original pick-up points.
