SUGGESTED ITINERARY
DAY 1
Depart by coach from school for the drive to Dublin and ferry to Holyhead. Pass Snowdonia and continue to hotel in the Birmingham area.
DAY 2
The day begins with a visit to Stratford-upon-Avon, the lovely Warwickshire town where William Shakespeare was born in 1564. Discover the exciting story of Shakespeare’s early years in the half-timbered house in the town centre. Tours start in the Birthplace, which contains an acclaimed exhibition of the poet’s life, ‘William Shakespeare: His Life and Background’, then continue through the house containing many period furnishings, manuscripts and books. Next, visit Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, justifi ably described as one of England’s most famous buildings. Anne lived in this most picturesque cottage before marrying William in 1582 and its picturesque setting and interior is a delight to visitors of all ages. In the afternoon attend a matinee performance by the Royal Shakespeare Company before returning to the hotel for dinner.
DAY 3
What better way to end the trip than with a visit to Warwick Castle, arguably Britain’s finest? Pupils will experience medieval history and culture at first hand with an excellent guided tour, guaranteed to fill them with enthusiasm and excitement. Depart Warwick after lunch for the homeward journey.
