SUGGESTED ITINERARY
DAY 1
Depart school by coach and drive to Dublin for the ferry to Holyhead, then travel across the Pennines to Leeds for a 3 night stay. After dinner this evening, enjoy a bowling or cinema visit.
DAY 2
Head to the village of Haworth, situated amid the bleak Pennine Moors. The Bronte Family lived at Haworth Parsonage and the Sisters wrote most of their famous works here. Visit the Bronte Parsonage Museum for a glimpse into their lives in 19th Century Yorkshire. Time for a lunch stop in one of the village’s many tea rooms or cafes, then enjoy a hike across the Moors to really get a feel for the area. Alternatively, take a steam train ride on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway that was most famously used in the fi lm ‘The Railway Children’.
DAY 3
This morning drive to York, known to the Romans as Eboracum and to the Vikings as Jorvik. Discover the City Walls, the splendid Minster and the Shambles with a local guide to explain the city’s rich heritage. An included visit to the Jorvik Centre will bring York’s Viking past to life on a journey through Viking Age streets, reconstructed as they would have been in the year AD 975. The Centre also offers three exciting exhibitions and the chance to actually come face to face with a ‘Viking’.
DAY 4
Depart Leeds for the return journey to Holyhead with time for a stop en route at the Cheshire Oaks Outlet Centre for a spot of retail therapy in over 200 discount stores. Transfer back to school after arrival in Dublin.
