SUGGESTED ITINERARY

DAY 1
Depart school by coach with arrival in time for a tour of Croke Park Stadium, one of the largest stadiums in Europe. Students will be thrilled to see behind the scenes in this historic sporting venue and a visit will also be made to the Gaelic Athletic Association Museum. Afterwards, a City Tour by coach will show the highlights of Dublin’s “Fair City”.

DAY 2
A popular excursion for today is to Bray and the National Sea Life Centre. Other suggestions include:

Trinity College and the Book of Kells - Visit Ireland’s oldest university to see the Book of Kells in the Old Library. Written around 800 AD, this is one of the most beautifully illuminated manuscripts in the world.

National Museum of Ireland - Houses the world’s most comprehensive collection of Irish heritage, cultural and natural history artefacts.

Dublin Writers Museum - Dedicated to Dublin’s literary history, the museum contains the books and personal items of the city’s great writers.

Dublin Zoo - One of the city’s most popular attractions with over 230 species of animals and birds.

Kilmainham Gaol - From 1792 to 1924 this now disused prison held many famous Nationalists and Republicans. It gives a good insight into the history of Irish Republicanism.

DAY 3
This morning visit the Phoenix Park Visitors Centre where there is an entertaining exhibition on the history and wildlife of the Park. Alternatively, visit Malahide Castle for the Fry Model Railway Exhibition. There will be free time for shopping at Blanchardstown Shopping Centre before the return journey to school.
