ITINERARY
TUESDAY 13TH JULY
Pick up from your local area then continue to Belfast for the 12.15hrs ferry to Stranraer. We drive across the Borders and Pennines to Leeds, arriving around 18.00hrs, for a three-night stay. (Dinner, B&B)
WEDNESDAY 14TH JULY
Enjoy a full English breakfast before we set off for Thirsk in North Yorkshire to visit the World of James Herriot. Based in his original surgery, the ‘Skeldale House’ of the Herriot books, visitors are taken back to the 1940s in this unique tribute to the well-known vet and author. We will even see the original Austin 7 car from the TV series. Later we drive to nearby Ripon to visit a farm with a typical Suckler herd of Limousin cross Shorthorn cows, nature’s best mothers! Enjoy the lovely rural landscape then it’s a leisurely drive back to our hotel. (Dinner, B&B)
THURSDAY 15TH JULY
The Great Yorkshire Show awaits us for a full day visit. 2010 is the Show’s 152nd year and it will truly be a celebration of agriculture and country life. The hub of the Show is the Main Ring, with International Show Jumping and a world-class Cattle Parade. The site is filled with animals, country demonstrations, have-a-go activities and the Great Yorkshire Cheese & Dairy Show. There’s also fashion, rural crafts and shopping galore! Return to the hotel in time for dinner. (Dinner, B&B)
FRIDAY 16TH JULY
We leave Yorkshire this morning and return north to Stranraer for the 14.45hrs ferry to Belfast. After disembarking we will transfer you to your original pick up point. |
