THE GREAT DORSET STEAM FAIR

The Great Dorset Steam Fair is widely recognised as the leading event of its type in the UK and, indeed, in Europe. It is held on a mammoth 600 acre site near Blandford Forum and is annually attended by over 300,000 visitors. The Show is also a music festival with 5 massive marquees of live music, a craft fair and a market place for that piece you have been looking for for years. This is the biggest display of vintage transport in the country, and the largest Fair Ground you’ll ever see. Overall there are more than 200 working steam engines and 100 fairground organs together with over 2000 other working exhibits. ITINERARY

TUESDAY 31ST AUGUST
Following local pick ups throughout Ireland we take the Rosslare/ Fishguard ferry and continue to our hotel in Southampton. (Dinner, B&B)

WEDNESDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER
After breakfast we drive to the Steam Fair site and spend our first full day at this amazing show – there’s so much to see! As well as the huge array of steam engines, agricultural machinery and vintage vehicles there are demonstrations, tractor-pulling, hundreds of stalls, the funfair and live bands in the music marquees. There are plenty of food stalls and bars on site too. We return to our hotel for dinner. (Dinner, B&B)

THURSDAY 2ND SEPTEMBER
We spend another full day at the Fair – the sheer scale of the show means that there is always something new to discover. We return to the hotel in time for dinner. (Dinner, B&B)

FRIDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER
Today is an Optional day. Either return to the Steam Fair or enjoy the many attractions of the maritime city of Southampton. After dinner we take you back to the Fair for the Friday night entertainment - steam funfairs, carousels, dancing, song and craic, returning around midnight. (Dinner, B&B)

SATURDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER
It’s time to leave Southampton and we set off after breakfast for the return journey to Fishguard and the ferry to Rosslare. On arrival, you will be transferred to your original pick up point.
